Here we are again. It’s October and I have a great way to set the mood for Halloween. I am going to give you recipe’s for the perfect party appetizers and drinks. So you can throw a Fabulous Halloween party. Read On!
Jack-O-Lantern Dyed Deviled Eggs
- Boil and cool hard boiled eggs. The technique I use is take eggs out of fridge, boil water, add eggs gently with spoon and boil for 15 minutes. Pour off hot water, replace with cold water a couple times and let eggs cool. It works perfectly for me.
- Cut in half, pop out the yolks.
- Make a dye of 1 tsp vinegar, 1 cup of hot tap water and food coloring. Normally I use drops and would add at least 20-25, but I wanted to dye these faster so I used Wilton Icing Coloring Gel this time. I added a good 1/8″ drop from a toothpick and stirred until it dissolved.
- Add egg whites and leave in dye until desired color (I added 2 at a time). Mine took about 4 minutes. Eggs I’ve made with food drops have taken longer, and it always takes longer once the water cools down.
- Turn upside down (hole pointing down) onto paper towels to dry.
- Make your favorite deviled egg mixture (I just add a squirt of yellow mustard, some mayo, S&P). Add a little orange food coloring.
- Fill eggs and embellish with cut out face features.
2. Pumpkin Whoopie Pies: These are incredibly delicious!
Pumpkin Whoopie Pies with Cream Cheese Filling
3 cups AP Flour
1 Tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground ginger
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup Splenda (use could white sugar if you like)
1 cup vegetable oil
1 – 15 oz. can of pumpkin
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Beat together brown sugar, Splenda, oil and pumpkin. Add eggs one at time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the vanilla. In a separate bowl, shift together the dry ingredients. Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined.
Using a pastry bag with a round tip, or a big zip top plastic bag with one corner snipped, squeeze out concentric circles of batter, starting from the middle and working outward until the circles are about 2 inches in diameter. Bake for 11 minutes and cool on a rack.
Cream Cheese Filling
1 – 8 oz. package of cream cheese, softened
1 stick of unsalted butter, room temperature
1 – 16 oz. package of powdered sugar
about a capful of vanilla extract
a pinch of cinnamon (to taste)
Beat together cream cheese and butter. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and cinnamon. Frost flat side of half the pies and top with another piece.
Enjoy right away or chill overnight.
3. Celebrate the fun Fall Season with this delicious drink perfect for all of your parties: Orange Fall Party Punch! What You’ll Need: One 2-liter of Sprite, chilled One 2-liter of Fanta Orange soda, chilled 6 – 8 scoops orange sherbet into Punch bowl with glasses, or serve out of Mason Jar Mugs!
4. Easy Microwavable Caremel Popcorn:
Serving Size / Yield
- 1/2 C. margarine
- 1/2 C. brown sugar
- 3 C. miniature marshmallows
- 2 quarts popped popcorn
Pop popcorn and set aside. Place margarine, brown sugar, and 1 C. marshmallows in microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Remove and stir until well blended. Add remaining marshmallows and microwave 1 minute. Stir mixture and pour over warm popcorn stirring to coat.
